    Six from Greeley

      Josh Langston
     Six from Greeley

Greeley, Texas--a frontier town with a bad attitude and a reputation to match. Who lived in such a wicked place? Several compelling answers spring to life in this short story collection spanning more than a century of life, love and lust in the west Texas dust. This revised edition includes a sample chapter from Josh Langston's new novel, "Resurrection Blues," a tale of a town that doesn't exist. The fictional town of Greeley, Texas, plays host to six short stories, each focusing on a special time, not just for this hardscrabble frontier town, but for the entire country. The time line stretches from 1864 to 1975--the Civil War to the aftermath of Vietnam. Sin, it seems, never goes out of style. Some characters come and go; others appear in multiple stories, and some of the most memorable aren't even human."Six from Greeley" will take readers on a tour they'll enjoy from beginning to end, and leave them hungry for more from this up and coming writer.

Publishing is Dead. Books are Dead. But it doesn't matter because no one is reading anyway.

      Richard Murphy
Publishing is Dead. Books are Dead. But it doesn't matter because no one is reading anyway.

This is a study of the paradigm shift of books into a digital world. It looks at the strengths and weaknesses of both digital and printed literature as well as the publishing systems around them. This is a dissertation. A 2nd version of this text will be released, without a maximum word count that will be able to into deeper research and analysis.AUTHORS NOTE: About six months ago I finished my first novel (Chronicles of the Vampire Hunters: The Coalition). The finished product was well over six hundred pages long, was unedited, and had NUMEROUS grammatical and punctuation errors. Also due to its length several elements of the story had to be left out. So instead of moving on to my next project, I decided to improve upon The Coalition. So I broke the novel up into three parts, had it edited, and added previously left out scenes(including a new prologue) making it a more complete story. If you've read The Coalition before I hope that you will be happy with the new material and if not I'm confident you will enjoy this first novel following Jake and his family's adventures. So here it is, the first part of The Coalition Trilogy: Creation. They are known by many names, from Gods and Immortals to Demons and Vampires. They are whispers in the shadows, myths, and legends. They have existed alongside mankind for thousands of years, always in hiding, always feeding. They are are the top of the food chain and humanity is their only prey. Alone and outnumbered a small group of men and women stand their ground, fighting to drive back the darkness anyway they can. They are our first, last, and only line of defense against monsters that know no fear. They are the Vampire Hunters. Jake Bishop is a normal, easy going kid that spends his summer days playing with his action figures and watching cartoons. The biggest, Earth shattering problem is his life are his parent's nonstop arguments over money. That all changes one hot summer night, when a demon from his father's past comes crashing back into his life. Jake is plunged into a surreal, terrifying world beyond his worst nightmares. Jake is nearly killed, his mother kidnapped, sending his father into a mad quest for revenge. Jake learns two truths, vampires exist and the Bishops have been hunting them for hundreds of years. And they are VERY good at what they do.

    Flawless

      Heather Graham
     Flawless

Everyone goes to Finnegan's… It's a pub in lower Manhattan, run by the Finnegan family for generations and now owned by Kieran and her three brothers. Kieran Finnegan, who still works there whenever she can, has become a criminal psychologist—a fitting reaction, perhaps, to her less-than-lawful past. Meanwhile, New York's Diamond District has been hit by a rash of thefts. No one's been killed—until now. FBI agent Craig Frasier is brought in to investigate; he and Kieran meet at a jewelry store in the middle of a heist. She's there to "unsteal" a flawless stone taken by her light-fingered youngest brother as an act of vengeance. He's there to stop the gang. But the police and FBI soon discover that there are two gangs of diamond thieves, the original and a copycat group of killers. And the second group seems to think their scheme is as flawless as the stones they steal. Thrown together by circumstance, drawn together by attraction, Kieran and Craig both end up working on the case. Unfortunately, there's more and more evidence that, somehow, the pub is involved. Because everyone goes to Finnegan's…

    Remember the Alamo

      Amelia E. Barr
     Remember the Alamo

Historical romance written in 1888. Remember the Alamo is the story of the fictional family of Robert Worth--at the time of the Texas revolution. By that time, Worth, a native of New York, had served as a well-known and respected physician in the town of San Antonio for more than a quarter of a century. Soon after he first arrived in Texas, Worth had married San Antonio native Maria Flores, and together they raised a family of two sons and two daughters. The turmoil in Texas during the period leading up to the revolution is epitomized in the Worth family. As a result of their multicultural marriage, the issues of whether Texas should be governed by Mexico or by Anglo-American influences became the fundamental topic that threatened to divide the family. On a much broader scale, these same issues threatened the unity of the people of Texas.

The Meandering Mind - Creative Musings of 7th Graders

Mr. Trinklein's 7th grade class creative stories compilation. The year is 2040, and in the Solomon Islands a programme to breed genetically-modified dolphins with near-human brains is underway. Dawn, a girl from England on a visit to the Solomons, suffers strange hallucinations when she encounters the dolphins, in which she is transported by means of a spirit journey into a parallel universe. It transpires that she too has been genetically modified, not by humans but by benign aliens from this parallel universe, so that her brain, as it reaches maturity, becomes like theirs. An unintended consequence of the dolphins’ neural modifications is that they are telepathic and are able to journey into this parallel universe. The intention of the aliens is that Dawn should play a key role in the development of dolphin culture. However, other malign aliens from the parallel universe have made contact with a sinister religious cult bent on world domination. The battle that ensues between Dawn’s dolphins and these malign forces takes place in both this and the parallel universe. Set against this backdrop is the romantic attachment that grows between the leader of the dolphin community and one of the humans caught up in the conflict.
