    Bitter Waters

     Bitter Waters

More information to be announced soon on this forthcoming title from Penguin USAFrom BooklistHalf-alien PI Ukiah Oregon is in bad grace with his moms, Jo and Lara, and his protecting pack. They are unhappy about Ukiah's engagement to FBI agent Indigo Zheng: the moms because, though Ukiah is a couple of centuries old, Indigo is too old for him; and the pack because he is marrying at all. Partner and mentor Max Bennett is on Ukiah's side, however, and that is critical when the routine tracking of a missing boy exposes Ukiah to a fanatical, malignant cult that kidnaps his son, Kitanning. The cultists have learned of the existence of the Ontongard, descendants of Ukiah's enemies who are still programmed to attempt to conquer Earth for their hive, and they are every bit as dangerous as those they call "demons," for they have acquired Ontongard chemical and biological weapons. Well-chosen everyday details as well as fire, murder, sudden death, and a lot of sex lead to an ending that resolves some of Ukiah's problems but leaves Earth's fate hanging fire for eagerly anticipated sequels.     Amore: Part 1

      Bella Jewel
     Amore: Part 1

Bla BlaDear Readers, I need to tell you a little about this book before you go in, so maybe you’ll understand why I stepped outside of my usual box to write it. I was reading a book recently that was about the mafia. I love mafia books. I’ve read a good portion of them. The mafia leader and his lover, his forbidden flame, the woman he purchased, the daughter of his enemy, you name it. I’ve read it. You know what I haven’t read? What you’re about to read. Back to the book I was reading. There was mention of a mafia leader who had a wife, a lovely wife, a good wife, a loyal wife, a wife he loved. But he had something else. He had a mistress. A woman on the side. Supposedly for status. A woman to make him look strong and superior. In fact, it was deemed that if he did NOT have one, that he was perceived as weak. My attention was sparked. I did research. Turns out that is indeed true in a lot of those situations. Not all of them, no, but some of them. And I said to myself. What is her life like? The other woman? The one used as a status symbol? What does she do with her free time? Who is she? Why does she do what she does? How does she fit into his world? How does it feel for her to be what she is? Does she hurt? Is she happy? How come nobody has told her story? So. I’m telling her story.I hope you love it as much as I loved writing it. Bella xx

    The Guggenheim Mystery

      Robin Stevens
     The Guggenheim Mystery

My name is Ted Spark. I am 12 years and 281 days old. I have seven friends.Three months ago, I solved the mystery of how my cousin Salim disappeared from a pod on the London Eye. This is the story of my second mystery. This summer, I went on holiday to New York, to visit Aunt Gloria and Salim. While I was there, a painting was stolen from the Guggenheim Museum, where Aunt Gloria works.Everyone was very worried and upset. I did not see what the problem was. I do not see the point of paintings, even if they are worth £9.8 million. Perhaps that's because of my very unusual brain, which works on a different operating system to everyone else's.But then Aunt Gloria was blamed for the theft - and Aunt Gloria is family. And I realised just how important it was to find the painting, and discover who really had taken it.
