Except, Monson Grey is not Monson Grey. At least, when he looks at himself in the mirror, the scarred face staring back is not someone he recognizes. Now he finds himself attending an extraordinary school, the recipient of an incredible scholarship, among ridiculously rich classmates, all with no memory of how he got there or what to expect. All he has from his former life are the flashes of haunting images that plague his dreams and the echoing voices that he hears, but cannot see. Luckily, Monson finds fast friendship in two of his classmates, Casey and Artorius. Little  does Monson know, they too carry their own skeletons. Yet, as bizarre events start to unfold around them, Monson wonders what secrets lay buried in his mind or if he will ever be able to share his true fears with his newfound friends.Join our three heroes as they roam the halls of the most prestigious high school in the country, finding love, mystery, and answers to their algebra homework- all while peeling away the layers of Monson’s shadowy past. Author’s Note: The House of Grey was originally a serialized audio fiction. Volume 1 begins the written adaptation of that story told in a six part series. Individual volumes do not contain the complete story.

    The Hour Glass Dagger

      Jeremy Marr
     The Hour Glass Dagger

Almost one-thousand years ago there was a great battle. One of life and death for all who live upon Leversa's Creation. The Son of Death promised to return and pave the way for His father. Elves, gnomes, barbarians, humans, dwarves and many other creatures must come together as one to stop the evil that has once again been unleashed. Heroes will rise, and some will fall. Will it be enough?Book 1The Hour Glass DaggerCome with me and together we will journey through Leversa’s Creation from one end to the other. This book, The Hour Glass Dagger, sets the background that begins our journey. My name is J-Marr and I will be your travel guide.Come walk with me, as we tread through Kessela’s Grasslands. It is a place where things are not always what they seem. The existence of Grass Runners will seal that thought as truth. If not, I'm sure the many surprises nestled within the waist high grass and lazily rolling foothills will.We will be wading through Sinisin’s Swamp. I can't wait to show you the Water Lilies, who live within the outskirts of the swamp.. If they don't inspire true awe, the eighteen-inch dragonflies they ride certainly will. There is also a good chance we could meet the Swamp Priestess, Shell-Lee, and her guardian Jeremiah. They are always aware of who wades within their waters. We will be gliding over Gullisen Jentry’s ice-encrusted winter land. In this area, only the toughest and bravest survive. It is here that the tall and muscle bound barbarians call home. Tread cautiously; giant polar bears and ice wolves are always hungry and do not hesitate to stealthily pounce from behind.Come climb with me, and watch your step as we scale the Tuskin Mountain Range. It is home to not only the dwarves living on and around Mount Magmere, but home also to the rock trolls who have dug their home into the center of the mountain region, protected by Tuskin’s Cloak. We will be ascending high up within Everon’s Oaks, into the large trees themselves where magical wood elves have created their tree cities and towns. Along our way to them, if you were to look closely, you may spy members of the Forest Guardians, made up of the stealthy earth elves.Come swim with me as we brave the waters of Leversa’s Basin. This is the largest body of fresh water in all the land. We could sail upon it for a month and never see the true beauty to be had; the water elves generally build their wonderous cities under the surface, out of view from all except their kind. Now listen to me closely. The last area we will be visiting is not one that I like to take travelers to. It is not an area as of yet that we can walk, climb, or swim to. It is not an area known to any but the Lost and the Faithless who live there. Only a wizard or sorceress who has mastered all the Flows (Water, Air, Earth, Fire, Temperture, and Death) has the power needed to mold those residues together to create the instant transportation spell. I wouldn’t be a very good guide if I wasn’t able to, but again, I will ask you to be careful.**** POP ****We are now within the Land of the Faithless. The Faithless are humans who were brought here by a powerful wizard over nine hundred years ago. They have been here multiplying, building a skilled army numbering near into the millions, and waiting for the Coming; when the son of Death returns “at a time of HIS choosing,” and,“The Lost and the Faithless that you are now, you will no longer be.” I was just quoting a passage within the coveted “Book of the Faithless”. The people are, as a whole, very disciplined in their daily routine of making babies to farm or fight. By sheer numbers alone they are a force to be reckoned with. Throw in the Lost, the very son of Death himself, and all the shadows of death under His control… I am thinking you are beginning to understand. Yes?**** POP ****Here we are, back at Leversa’s Creation as the rest of the population knows it. You probably wouldn’t recognize where, as I do. If you check your map, you will find us to be South of Leversa’s Basin, sandwiched between the outskirts of Everon’s Oaks and the Sinisin Swamp. We are in the only large city in the immediate Southern land. Its name is Bek’noni, and it is here that the story begins.

    Thief in the Night

      Rex Sumner
     Thief in the Night

Andy is an elite Harrhein soldier, a Lancepesade (medieval precursor to Lance Corporal) in the Royal Pathfinders. He's injured and recovering in a frontier fort, working in the armoury, when he realises he isn't alone. Something else is there, too small and quiet to be human.Harrhein is a kingdom in a fantasy world, very much like earth but set five hundred years in the past. There are constant incursions by tribesmen and raiders from the north and east, and Andy is a soldier with the elite Royal Pathfinders. He has taken a spear through the thigh and his presence in the armoury is good for the Kingdom, when there is an infiltrator. An ordinary soldier would probably not even notice the presence of the strange being, let alone catch it.Harrhein is based on a mixture of European countries and this is a story about soldiers, from a time when professional soldiers were beginning to evolve, but the majority were still bound to their lord. The author has clearly drawn on his own experiences to give authenticity to the military angle.

This is a telling of his final hours.Seek not pleasure or fancy beyond this point. These stories are not for everyone and I would warn against those that are faint of heart from continuing. They are detailed and raw.A Death in Afterworld is a short story series that focuses on the death of a person in the After World universe. Pitfalls, deaths, and murder are commonplace and are a means of survival for others.Death is final. Death is abrupt. Death is the end of one’s story.     The Bible Repairman and Other Stories

      Tim Powers
The Bible Repairman and Other Stories

Gathering darkly fantastic short fiction previously available only in limited editions, this collection explores the mysteries of souls—whether they are sacrificed on the pinnacle of Mount Parnassus or lodged in a television cable box. In a Kabbalistic tale of transformation, the executor of an old friend’s will is almost duped into housing his soul. In a tale of time travel between 2015 and 1975, a tragedy sparked by an angel falling onto a pizza shop is reenacted—and the event is barely, but fatally, altered. The cornerstone of the collection is a postscript to the harrowing novel of the haunting of the Romantic poets, The Stress of Her Regard. Once Byron and Shelley break free of the succubus that claimed them, their associate, Trelawny, forges an alliance with Greek rebels to reestablish the deadly connection between man and the nephilim. Fans of Powers’s renowned secret histories will delight as he deftly weaves an array of fantastical creatures into richly layered narratives of the past.

      Alexander Gordon Smith
     The Night Children

It is December 1944 and Europe is still gripped by war. In the densely forested mountains of Belgium one of the conflict's most brutal battles is raging. Cut off from the front, a ragtag group of young British and American soldiers finds itself being hunted by a patrol of elite German Special Forces, including a newly commissioned officer called Kreuz—a teenage boy who will grow up to become Warden Cross (the fearsome prison director who will one day rule Furnace Penitentiary, the terrifying underground prison specially built for teen offenders). As both sides fight for their lives in the unforgiving terrain, however, they start to realize that there are worse things hiding in the snow than soldiers. There are creatures out there with gas masks and piggy eyes (ancestors of Furnace prison's "wheezers")—demonic entities that cannot be killed by guns and grenades, monsters who do not care what uniforms their victims are wearing so long as they bleed, and so long as they scream . . .

    The True Meaning of Smekday

      Adam Rex
     The True Meaning of Smekday

It all starts with a school essay. When twelve-year-old Gratuity (“Tip”) Tucci is assigned to write five pages on “The True Meaning of Smekday” for the National Time Capsule contest, she’s not sure where to begin. When her mom started telling everyone about the messages aliens were sending through a mole on the back of her neck? Maybe on Christmas Eve, when huge, bizarre spaceships descended on the Earth and the aliens – called Boov – abducted her mother? Or when the Boov declared Earth a colony, renamed it “Smekland” (in honor of glorious Captain Smek), and forced all Americans to relocate to Florida via rocketpod? In any case, Gratuity’s story is much, much bigger than the assignment. It involves her unlikely friendship with a renegade Boov mechanic named J.Lo.; a futile journey south to find Gratuity’s mother at the Happy Mouse Kingdom; a cross-country road trip in a hovercar called Slushious; and an outrageous plan to save the Earth from yet another alien invasion. Fully illustrated with “photos,” drawings, newspaper clippings, and comics sequences, this is a hilarious, perceptive, genre-bending novel by a remarkable new talent. the planet from a really big catastrophe.
