     OtherWhere The Vagrant’s Tail

Arthur Meadows fell into a downward spiral and lost everything after the voices and visions started. His average day consisted of bumming money on the street, and trying to forget his tattered life. But not every person he meets is all that they seem, and a seemingly chance encounter leads to a very different end to the day. This is a Spin-off story from my Novelette 'The Crazies'The Life and Times of Dread takes place in the world of the year 2114 where the United States has now been in a carefully negotiated Nuclear world war for over 50 years. The bursting populations of the Earth are herded into giant mega-cities, which sometimes become targets of nuclear destruction once they are nice and full. Dread lives in the Northern Bronx of New York on the ground level, and is a member of the Bronx gang called The Beatles. After the Beatles leader Clark Kent takes a liking to Christopher Robin Dread, (probably because his middle name is Robin,) Dread finds himself now the sidekick of a guy who wears a super hero outfit and thinks he's Batman. Dread is trained to swing around the infrastructure of the New York Mega-city and assists Batman with his obsession of fighting crime. The team of crime fighters soon find themselves over their heads when they uncover a plot by Washington DC to plant bombs in the New York Mega-City. Washington DC intends to blow New York up and blame the Asian Block Nations of an unauthorized nuclear strike in clear violation of the rules of nuclear war. This graphic novel by Davol White was written back in the early 1990’s, years before bombs went off in New York and were blamed on Asian nations.

Ahlea Warrior Girls: The Sacred Statue

You are welcome to follow the adventures of two courageous girls across the fantastic and mystic Continent. The first book describes their quest for a stolen statuette, in order to finally stop a horrible war. But the search holds many dangers and the statue hides mystic secrets...When wars last for generations, it doesn't matter how they began......it only matters how they end. And this one seems that it could end only by their defeat. Waeryehenian troops are getting closer to the capital city every day. The kingdom of Ahleyn, ruled by Queen Natya and controlled completely by women, had lost more than a half of its territory. Besides that, Zal attacks from the savage land of Ro-Oth are also getting more frequent. Ahleas can't even seem to control male rebellions any more. A great kingdom is falling apart, both from inside and out...People of Ahleyn keep in memory the first glorious years of war, when they were the ones winning the battles. One stupid mistake made the course of war to turn around. But they can now hardly even remember the days of peace, when the Great Continental pact with Waeryehen and Koron was a guarantee of peace. It was also broken by just a few foolish acts of only one person...Unfotunately, all this horror has made almost everyone on the Continent to completely forget that even greater danger had existed in ancient times and that it can happen again...

    The Marriage Spell

      Mary Jo Putney
     The Marriage Spell

New York Times bestselling author Mary Jo Putney is acclaimed by critics and readers alike for unforgettable storytelling and arresting characters. Now she introduces a Regency England you’ve never seen before, where dazzling magic is practiced in all but the highest reaches of Society, and where desire is the most mysterious and seductive force of all. One of the Duke of Wellington’s most respected officers, Jack Langdon, Lord Frayne, takes his family’s honor very seriously. He also hides a shameful secret: a talent for sorcery he has been raised to suppress and openly reject. But after an injury lands Jack at death’s door, his only chance at survival lies with Abigail Barton, a peer’s daughter and a skilled wizard. Her price: Jack’s hand in marriage. It isn’t long before Jack feels an irresistible attraction to his forthright new wife, whose allure is as intense as the reawakening magical abilities he can no longer deny. Abigail had to make a great sacrifice to perform a spell powerful enough to save Lord Frayne, and although she cannot help but be drawn to her reluctant husband’s surprising sensitivity and kindness, she knows all too well his distaste for magic. Once she has Jack’s name and the child she has always longed for, she is determined to live apart from him so that he can preserve his reputation–and so that she herself can stay true to her gifts. But neither Abby nor Jack reckons on the deep, long-simmering passions her spell ignites. They challenge each other’s extraordinary powers and deepest desires for the sake of a love that may cost them all they cherish most. With breathtaking skill and vivid historical detail, Mary Jo Putney weaves a tale of enchantment, mystery, and romance that will forever hold you spellbound. From the Hardcover edition.

    The Gate to Women's Country

      Sheri S. Tepper
     The Gate to Women's Country

Tepper's finest novel to date is set in a post-holocaust feminist dystopia that offers only two political alternatives: a repressive polygamist sect that is slowly self-destructing through inbreeding and the matriarchal dictatorship called Women's Country. Here, in a desperate effort to prevent another world war, the women have segregated most men into closed military garrisons and have taken on themselves every other function of government, industry, agriculture, science and learning. The resulting manifold responsibilities are seen through the life of Stavia, from a dreaming 10-year-old to maturity as doctor, mother and member of the Marthatown Women's Council. As in Tepper's Awakeners series books, the rigid social systems are tempered by the voices of individual experience and, here, by an imaginative reworking of The Trojan Woman that runs through the text. A rewarding and challenging novel that is to be valued for its provocative ideas.
