    A March of Kings

      Morgan Rice
     A March of Kings

A MARCH OF KINGS takes us one step further on Thor’s epic journey into manhood, as he begins to realize more about who he is, what his powers are, and as he embarks to become a warrior. After he escapes from the dungeon, Thor is horrified to learn of another assassination attempt on King MacGil. When MacGil dies, the kingdom is set into turmoil. As everyone vies for the throne, King’s Court is more rife than ever with its family dramas, power struggles, ambitions, jealousy, violence and betrayal. An heir must be chosen from among the children, and the ancient Dynasty Sword, the source of all their power, will have a chance to be wielded by someone new. But all this might be upended: the murder weapon is recovered, and the noose tightens on finding the assassin. Simultaneously, the MacGils face a new threat by the McClouds, who are set to attack again from within the Ring. Thor fights to win back Gwendolyn’s love, but there may not be time: he is told to pack up, to prepare with his brothers in arms for The Hundred, a hundred grueling days of hell that all Legion members must survive. The Legion will have to cross the Canyon, beyond the protection of the Ring, into the Wilds, and set sail across the Tartuvian Sea for the Isle of Mist, said to be patrolled by a dragon, for their initiation into manhood. Will they make it back? Will the Ring survive in their absence? And will Thor finally learn the secret of his destiny?

Woody Allen Makes A Scary Sandwich - Horror Pastiche, Stories & Poems

      Karen S. Cole
Woody Allen Makes A Scary Sandwich - Horror Pastiche, Stories & Poems

Heywood "Woody" Allen: Over time, Allan Stewart Konigsberg and I have associated with each other. This is the first in a series of books compiling a few short stories we've distantly collaborated on throughout the past 25 years. I am a book ghostwriter and editor of long standing, and these "tall tales" reflect a variety of genres including horror fiction, humorous sci-fi and narrative nonfiction.Woody Allen has forever fascinated me as a friend, a mentor and a colleague. He is a humor writer par excellence whom I spoke with when I was 14, during a radio call-in show about the Holocaust. The next day, he sent me a two page letter, stating that he thought I should pursue a career in show business. I kept and treasured this handwritten, signed missive for years. Later on, he sent me another document, a book length "love letter" of sorts, where he told me about his life and what he thought I should be doing with mine. It contained an imaginary "duel" with Malcolm X - which Woody necessarily won!He was the main crush in my intellectual life, all through my teenage years. His Madison Ave., NYC humor writing career burgeoned, ballooned and grew, and we continued to correspond in writing, keeping tabs on each other. I considered him to be my Manhattan Jewish Rabbi, along with Jerry Lewis, who imitated my special midnight backflip once on camera. Jerry and I have worked extensively with seriously disabled adults and children, such as boys with muscular dystrophy. I worked for a man for several years who has both MD and cerebral palsy, as his certified nurse aide for in-home care. This is the first in a series of books compiling the short stories I've written over the past twelve or more years. Many of them were inspired by the works of Woody Allen, and the last story in this book was ghostwritten with some assistance from him. I am a book ghostwriter and editor of long standing, and these "tall tales" reflect a variety of different genres, including both fiction and nonfiction, which I wrote either for practice or in order to improve my own writing. Original, suspenseful epics; gripping, humorous, including horror, science fiction, narrative nonfiction, and a host of other topics as perceptively descriptive stories, which should help you perceive the Universe in a whole new intrinsically original and realistic baleful light.

What the Hell Did I Just Read

      David Wong
What the Hell Did I Just Read

NYT bestselling author Wong takes readers to a whole new level with his latest dark comic sci-fi thriller, set in the world of John Dies at the End and This Book is Full of Spiders Dave, John and Amy recount what seems like a fairly straightforward tale of a shape-shifting creature from another dimension that is stealing children and brainwashing their parents, but it eventually becomes clear that someone is lying, and that someone is the narrators. The novel you're reading is a cover-up, and the "true" story reveals itself in the cracks of their hilariously convoluted, and sometimes contradictory, narrative.

    The City, Not Long After

      Pat Murphy
     The City, Not Long After

A chilling postapocalyptic novel of hope, despair, art, and war from the Nebula and Philip K. Dick Award–winning author of *The Falling Woman.* A plague wiped out most of the population, but some have been spared. In San Francisco, those who were left—painters, writers, dreamers—began rebuilding the city in their image: a society based on art, community, and peace. But not everyone has the same pacifist ideals. When a mysterious young woman, Jax, appears in San Francisco, she brings disturbing news. There’s a power-hungry man, a general, moving across California, annexing cities and rebuilding his own version of America, willing to destroy anyone who stands in his way. His sights are set on the Golden Gate Bridge, and his army will soon descend, bringing guns, determination, and violence. If Jax and her allies are to survive, they’ll have to defend themselves with nothing more than their creativity—and the soul of a city that refuses to be dominated. Drawing comparisons to the mind-bending work of Gabriel García Márquez, this lush and thought-provoking dystopian novel is an examination of human spirit, for better or worse, and a magical journey into what it means to survive.
