    Hell's Canopy

      Dominick Marino
     Hell's Canopy

This short novel follows an exciting adventure around the world as Nick Adamson is hurled into an interplanetary conflict. After being given the gift to tap into all his mental abilities he is immediately forced into a mysterious and deadly game of cat and mouse. Follow Nick on this action packed sci-fi thriller with comedy and romance all wrapped elegantly under Hell's Canopy.Hell's Canopy has a lot of my heart and soul poured into the characters. The whole book is a metaphor about the consequences of interfering or intervening on other people's problems. Sometimes helping means hurting. In the beginning of the 21 st century history will remember a volatile yet peaceful earth, yet it seems that we still squabble over resources and meddle in other countries foreign affairs. Peace takes diplomacy and war is never the answer only in defense. This metaphor is infused with my peaceful philosophy along with the idea that with education we may avoid violence unnecessarily. This book is going to be my first sci-fi series and I hope to bring the characters to life once again so enjoy Hell's Canopy and tell me what you think.

That’s right: Lyman’s got himself a partner. And it quickly becomes clear that Wally, the new guy, is even more corrupt and menacing than Lyman. Luckily, Ben’s team has been growing too. A champion race horse takes on the British Grand National, not all plain sailing for its owner Winston Blake. As he takes on the establishment, it is his past that would cause harrowing pain from within his own family. Looking for lost daughters can be dangerous, you may find what you seek. The story of a battle to put a petite woman on the back of a champion in the British Grand National.Winston Blake was once a fearless merchant banker, part of a financial empire built on risk and speculation. He suddenly retired to look for his daughter missing for some years in Australia, he had an idea. He would find a horse that could win the Melbourne Cup, an event he knew his daughter was fond off, he had attended the event with her, he liked it. He wished his efforts would bring her from her hiding place, or at least he felt better trying. Years of gut feeling and indulging in risk beyond reverence he found a foal in Ireland, destined for nothing he observed what he considered to be traits of a champion. Not exemplary bloodline, or majestic majesty, but a sparkling eye, fearless posture, stout indignation and an air of determination. He purchased the foal and put his years of negotiation to work on convincing the right people to become involved. The horse, 'Flaxmead', became the fastest stayer on the planet and brought a nation together as a petite young female teenage jockey eventually took the black beauty to a crushing win in the Melbourne Cup.A key part of Flaxmead's success was his initial trainer, a horse whisperer, Blake's neighbor in the town hamlet of Flax Burton in Somerset England. His name was Roger Palmer, it was some years since 'Flaxmead' had retired. Winston Blake looked no older than he did a decade back. He was somewhat lost and in need of direction, horses were still trained by Blake's organisation now the biggest on the planet, it was a business run by Palmer's daughter Kalika, well that's whom she thought she was. Roger Palmer would again become the catalyst to bring down the establishment, a battle to control something Palmer and Blake detested, the British Grand National. In a heartbeat, the task falls on Blake's shoulders. An epic battle of cat and mouse to put a champion with a petite woman on it's back between the starting markers of the most controversial horse race on the planet, the British Grand National. One would think that murder mystery and mayhem moves among the most maligned members of society, as the cards play out on the table, Blake faces his biggest foe, his past.

    The Devil in Iron, Respawned

      Roberta E. Howard
     The Devil in Iron, Respawned

A Conyn the Barbarian story. Any resemblance to Robert E. Howard's Conan is completely intentional.A resurrected demon menaces Conyn on an island fortress, along with other monsters. A Gender Switch Adventure. The young elf Minervar has quite naively jumped at the opportunity of adventure. But what self-respecting, talented young novice wouldn’t? Especially if they had a muscle bound guardian and teacher called Jondris along for the ride. Whilst on her day off, enjoying a quiet ale in a tavern, Minervar has a chance meeting with a kinswoman, the stunningly beautiful, but mysterious God-fearing ranger from the wilds, an elf called Serinae and her business partner Teouso. This human stranger from the east badly in need of a dentist who is a man but has an uncanny knack fighting as a large canine. Well, events quickly start to take an interesting turn. They are joined by a wise-cracking, ale-swilling professional soldier, a vacationing dwarf called Łĩnwéé who has big attitude and a liking for freshly poached eggs and dragon scales. They find themselves rescuing Tnie from a lynch mob. They don’t know it at first but Tnie is a fugitive, on the run from the authorities after intentionally destroying part of his home city (the uninhabited part luckily!) to save it from an invading army, an ancient force that has already caused much destruction back inages past. The companions discover at a high-society dinner party, hosted by the last remaining member of an ancient elven guild of academics, that their world is under threat. Natural cataclysmic events are on the increase (some would call these ‘Twists of Eternity’). Not only that, but they also find out that some of their group are unintentional refugees and not from the world they live in at all. With more questions than answers, they set out to learn what they can from the elder races, for each has knowledge and skills necessary to rescue the planet from certain doom. The only problem is, they are missing a member. They need a representative from the murderous war-loving race of the ognods, a race of giants from the north that all the other races hate and fear, with good reason. If that’s not sufficient to put a damper on the proceedings, it becomes apparent that other unrelated dark forces are trying to hinder them, even stop them altogether. Dark forces that are uncomfortably linked to the history of the elven race and more personally to Serinae’s own mysterious past.Wrongs are righted, lessons are learnt, battles are fought. Strange lands are travelled both within the world and without. Strange creatures discovered and avoided, especially the ones that dig tunnels using their naturally generated atomic energy (good for instantly heating water for tea though!). The company perseveres. They must discover their own secret past to save their precarious future. Finally with the help of a gargantuan technological marvel that runs on ‘chips’, designed and installed by a mysterious and extinct race of beings with a history more ancient than the planet itself, they succeed. The companions, although changed by their epic discoveries and experiences forever, put the world to rights. As for Minervar, well, she may just learn many things about herself along the way.
