Voyage of the Beyonder

      DD White
     Voyage of the Beyonder

Five billion years ago The Beyonder became the first starship to reach the planet Doldoria. Meanwhile on that planet a primitive being named Alldegallo dreams about gods from the stars who are coming. He becomes a prophet who predicts that the gods shall soon change their simple steam-powered animal-pulled world for all time. Other aliens of this galactic empire will also never be the same.Almost five billion years ago there arose the galactic empire of Nephapricus that encompassed the galaxy from one side to the other connected by advanced wormhole technologies. The book Voyage of the Beyonder begins the story of this culture where they first began the age of hyper-acceleration to over half the speed of light. These incredible speeds caused changes to their DNA that mutated them from the terrestrial aliens that were evolving on different planets into galactic beings who lived exponentially longer lives. Voyage of the Beyonder is a full-length novel where each chapter has had an illustration by artist Davol White included as part of the writing process. The title of this latest book by DD White, ‘Voyage of the Beyonder,’ is about Nephapricus, which is an alien word for a galactic culture that rose and fell billions of years before the planet Earth was even conceived. Nephapricus began as a cluster of 15 tightly packed stars where three separate intelligent species of aliens evolved on separate planets that were orbiting the stars named Ea, Poa, and Dol. This book chronicles the journey of a member of the Nephrican alien species who was the first to travel from the star Ea to the star Dol. He was a three-legged one-eyed squid-like alien, and his name was Captain Mynervood. In this story he is the first to travel to the planet Doldoria where the intelligent life there still lived in primitive superstitious societies. Doldorians were beings with exoskeleton anatomies that could see and speak with the dead, and they practiced a plurality of religions and mystical forms of magic. The third species of aliens in this story were the Pripicans who were 4-legged furry beings that looked like mythical centaurs. Pripicans were the victors in the Great War between planets against the Nephricans. Pripicans were also the inventors of the quantum-bit technologies, which were starting to inundate this galactic culture at the time of the story. The quantum-bit technology in this story was also used to make artificially intelligent forms of microscopic beings that were more intelligent than any organic life form, they were immortal, and their microscopic size made them virtually invisible. Nephapricus goes back to the beginning of this alien culture, and begins to chronicle the history of this legendary galactic civilization that rose and fell in the 2nd Age of Magphoreus, long before this present galactic dark age where we exist in ignorance of our rich galactic history, and the true nature of our existence possibly remains blind under the mysterious shadow of these highly evolved ancient aliens.

    Tarizon: Desert Swarm

      William Manchee
     Tarizon: Desert Swarm

What looks like a cathedral suddenly begins to emerge from the sands of the Mojave Desert. Scientist believe it is a natural phenomenon but a local religious leader insists it is a sign from the Lord of the second coming of Christ.Due to a freak auto accident, Jack Carpenter discovers a strange geological formation in the Mojave Desert near Bat Mountain, California. He thinks little about it until he returns out of curiosity and discovers the formation is growing, and doing so at a staggering rate. Fascinated by this, he calls in his friend George Parker, a local geology professor, and together they begin to study the Bat Mountain Formation in earnest.Professor Parker has never seen or heard of a geological formation that is growing nearly six inches a day, so he contacts a friend at the U.S. Park Service to get him to take a look. Eventually word of the bizarre discovery gets out and people flock to see this miracle in the desert, which is beginning to look like a cathedral. Seeing an opportunity to save his failing Church of the Living Desert, Reverend John Little proclaims that the Bat Mountain Formation is, indeed, a cathedral and it is being built by God to herald the second coming of Christ. But before Reverend Little and his flock can get their movement off the ground, the U.S. Army steps in and declares the formation a potential public hazard and possible threat to national security. A series of mysterious deaths and the inability of scientist to explain the phenomenon gives credence to the Army's concern.

    The Black Joke

      David Bramhall
     The Black Joke

A cross between Treasure Island, The Railway Children and Deliverance, The Black Joke is by turns exciting, amusing, charming, alarming, winsome, violent and strange - a rollicking read for adults with a childish love of adventure, and for children who aren't afraid of a few long words."Far off at the western edge of the world, where the green land meets the grey ocean and the wind never falters, Bodrach Nuwl, the Old Man of the Mist, rises a thousand feet above the sea. At his head the wind perpetually thunders, whipping the thin grasses and stunting the trees that lean and cling grimly with their ancient roots. He is so gigantic that each ledge and crinkle in his face is a little world in itself. On green, wind-blasted lawns the size of football pitches, whole populations of rabbits and foxes lead their lives perched in the air with no inkling of the outside world. Small crevices become great chasms, lined with trees growing from the rock itself, fed by ferny waterfalls and inhabited by finches and great dragonflies. Habitats here have no connection with the world at large. There are species of insect that exist nowhere else, and unknown pale orchids that thrive in cracks and crannies. Great caves loom open that from the sea must seem like the holes of sand-martins but in reality could swallow a small village and are inhabited by bats and blind snakes.Behind the cliffs huddles a dismal little town. In the town is a church, and in the church are some pews. And under one of the pews is a boy, hiding from the Vicar."Thus begins The Black Joke, which has been described as a cross between Treasure Island, The Railway Children and Deliverance. It is by turns exciting, amusing, charming, alarming, winsome, violent and strange - a rollicking read for adults with a childish love of adventure, and for children who aren't afraid of a few long words. There's a skeleton in the tunnel, a pair of loathsome bullies in the classroom, a mysterious ship in the harbour and vague rumours about missing treasure. But ... pirates? Oh, come on, surely not. That would be ridiculous. You don't get pirates any more ... do you?You will meet ...... the fearsome Urethra Grubb, the worst woman in the world ...... the emphatic Rosella Prettyfoot, who wears big boots and knows how to use them ...... the sinister Trinity Teague, who disappeared and has now come back ...... the odorous Billy Moon, and his mother Primrose who's no better than she should be ...... and the slightly bewildered Pertinacious Potts and his annoying sister Fenestra, who have to make sense of it all and know that no good will come of it. Probably.

Masterman Ready; Or, The Wreck of the Pacific

      Frederick Marryat
Masterman Ready; Or, The Wreck of the Pacific

Prefatory Note Masterman Ready is the first, the most famous, and certainly the best of the short series of stories for children which Marryat began, comparatively late in life, under the impression that his former productions, like all novels, had had their day, and for the present, at least, would sell no more. He anticipated, and secured, a little income from these juveniles. In his preface, printed below, he expounds the origin of the tale ;and no one will be inclined to dispute the advance in correctness on The Swiss Family Robinson, to which he lays claim. Indeed the treatment of a well-worn subject is surprisingly fresh and convincing. The hypercritical reader may cavil at the thoughtfulness of the seawaves in washing ashore the very articles required for comfort, and no one can fail to resent the excess of righteousness in old Ready; but these are small blemishes in a work so really interesting and so admirably executed. It is exactly suited for children, abounding in detail, simple in conception, and pathetic without being melancholy. The style of direct narration is perfectly clear and attractive, without foolish condescension. Were there no external evidence of the fact, we could be confident from a study of this volume, that Marryat loved children and understood them. The death of Ready, through Tommy sselfishness, is artistically inevitable, and told without sentimentality. For ourselves, however, we confess to finding that greedy boys naughtiness in most cases peculiarly unattractive and scarcely amusing.(Typographical errors above are due to OCR software and don't occur in the book.)About the Publisher Forgotten Books is a publisher of historical writings, such as: Philosophy, Classics, Science, Religion, History, Folklore and Mythology.Forgotten Books' Classic Reprint Series utilizes the latest technology to regenerate facsimiles of historically important writing --This text refers to an out of print or unavailable edition of this title. --This text refers to an out of print or unavailable edition of this title.

We find him in more trouble than he expected, for Kate has come, uncharacteristically, to grief, and Thwaite, always better under pressure than he believes, must carry the day himself, unless there is any substance at all in the one puzzling reassurance that she offers him.
