Rocky Road

  “Yum!” I said. “Looks fantastic, Mom!”

  “What kind of cake is it?” Joe asked eagerly.

  “Ice-cream cake!” Mom said.

  Doh!

  “Um, no thanks, Mom,” I said.

  “I’m stuffed,” Joe agreed.

  “But Joe, it’s Rocky Road—your favorite!” Mom said.

  “I . . . I’m just not hungry for ice cream right now,” Joe said. “Sorry.”

  Poor Mom. She looked so disappointed!

  But there was no way on earth Joe was ever eating Rocky Road again.

  And that went double for me.

  “AARRK!” Playback squawked. “We all scream for ice cream!”
