Ghost (A Steele Riders MC Book 6)

The second I walked in the door, Grace stood there glaring at me. “You didn’t have to kill him because he came to get me back. I wouldn’t have left you.”

“I just meted out some justice.”

“That’s not justice,” she bit out, looking pissed off.

I didn’t want to argue about this. I needed to hold her. “Look. If you knew what I was going to do, why the fuck didn’t you argue with me earlier?”

“Because I know it’s not about him wanting me back. There’s more. Crystal said that whatever it was, it was bad. I want the truth.”

Fucking hell. Boomer is going to have to talk to his wife. Shit. “I killed the bastard, and I’d do it again. Hell, I think he died too quickly, but I don’t think it’s best that you know the ‘why.’”

“I don’t want you to lie to me, Ricardo. We’re in this together. I want the truth.”

“Fuck. Fine.” I walked past her, pacing when I looked up at her. I hated that she couldn’t let it go. I took her hand and led her to the sofa, just in case she passed out. “Are you going to promise you’re not going to freak and pass out?” She nodded. “No, Grace. I need the words. You’re my everything. I wouldn’t forgive myself if something happened to you.”

“I promise I won’t pass out.” She cupped my face. “I love you, Ricardo.”

I squeezed her tighter than I should have, but even thinking about his plans, I couldn’t even breathe. “Okay… He had a torture and murder kit in his fucking trunk. He admitted that he planned to kill you after he took what he wanted. I gave him what he deserved. I’ll never be sorry for protecting my family.”

She threw her arms around my neck and sobbed out, “Thank you for telling me the truth. Now I don’t feel bad. He can’t hurt anyone else. I had a feeling you would say that, but I needed to be sure. I’ve been so anxious since you left.”

“Well, my brilliant, amazing wife. I might be a little crazy for awhile. He planned to take you away from me forever.” I hadn’t realized I was crying until she reached up, brushing my tears off my cheeks. “I can’t lose you, Grace. You were the only reason I hung on. I dreamed of my angel and I had to hear her giggle.”

“I’m never leaving you. And you’re there to protect me. Can you do something for me?”

      “Anything.”

“Take me to bed and make love to me, my hero.”

“All night long, mi reina.” I kept my promise and worshipped her all night long.

      Epilogue

      Grace

      Two years later

      “How was work?”

“Great. Where’s my husband?” I asked my father. Normally Ricardo picked me up from work every single day. He had his schedule around mine just for that purpose. It had been two years since David showed up ready to kill me. Had he finally eased up? No, I remembered how crazy he was this morning.

“He said to be ready in ten minutes. I came to pick up the little guy.” The babysitter just dropped Julian off to me twenty minutes ago per our usual. Ricardo loved to have us all together.

“You’re taking the baby?” I asked, holding my son tightly. “Mama. Go bike ride.”

“Hey there, son. You’re supposed to be on Daddy’s side.” I smiled up at my husband, who pulled me in for a kiss before snatching Julian. “You, little man, are staying with Abuelo tonight.”

      “Belo. Belo.”

      “That’s me.”

“Well I’ve got everything I need for my sweet little grandson. Have a good time. I’ll come pick him up tomorrow at ten.” He handed our son to my father. “Come on, Jules, we’ve got some adventures to go on today.”

      “A night alone, Mr. Martinez?”

“Well, you told me you were off the pill last month. I need to make sure we give it a good go. I want another five kids. So, let’s get to work, Mrs. Martinez.”

I locked up and then he pulled me into his arms. “The bike?”

“Yes. I know how you like to feel that baby purr between your legs.” Shit, I was getting wet already. “Hop on, mi reina.” I love when he called me his queen. My pussy gushed a little more, and I was certain I’d soak his seat. He held my hand as I got on, and then I pressed my face to his back. “Ready?”

“Give it to me, husband.” He grunted, then sped off. The vibration shooting straight to my pussy nearly pushed me to the edge. I was grateful we didn’t live far away. He pulled through the gate and then straight into the garage. He’d barely cut the engine when he lifted me onto his lap and freed his cock from his pants.

“Fuck, wife. Your pussy’s soaked. Now it’s time for another ride.” He slid me down his cock, every inch disappearing into my heated slit. I bounced over his fat shaft until I came so hard, I nearly knocked the bike over. Growling, he filled me up with every drop.

“Now it’s time to take this inside.” He swooped me up easily, carrying me into the house and keeping his promise.

Three weeks later, my pregnancy test came back positive. “Only four more to go,” he cheered, running down the hall and swooping Julian into his arms. “Mommy’s going to give you a brother or sister soon.” I laughed as I watched the scene in front of me. His brother and sister were a lot younger than him, leaving him to grow up as an only child for so long. He didn’t want our babies to feel that loneliness. Although with all the Steele Rider family around, he could never feel alone. Every single one of us had a kid or would be having our second already.

My giggle distracted him and he turned to stare. Walking over to me with our son in one arm, he pulled me in for a brief kiss. “I love you, Grace. Thank you for this life you gave to me.”

“I love you eternally, Ricardo.” I pressed my head to his chest.

“So we only have four more babies to go,” he whispered as our son let out a fabulously worn-out yawn.

“I haven’t even had this one yet.”

“Yeah, but I love making them. Maybe I should up that number,” he growled, squeezing my ass.

“Nope, but I sure as hell will let you practice,” I promised.

      Twenty-two years later

      Ghost

“Julian S. Martinez,” the dean called out. We had to hold our cheers, but I roared inside. My son was a doctor like his mother and grandfather, along with one of his many uncles. Grace and I held hands as we watched our son cross the stage and accept his future.

We couldn’t be prouder of the life we made.

He came to the stage to address the class as the top student in his program.

“As we enter the world of medicine, we all aim for being the best in our fields, but I have a strong legacy to live up to. Twenty-four years ago, my grandfather pulled a dying man out of the ocean, taking him to his daughter where they both worked to save his life. Less than a year later, that dying man held me in his arms and told me that he would always be there for me. My dad survived because of the dedication and heart of my mother and grandfather. I wouldn’t be here today if it weren’t for their will and strength. Many of us have stories, reasons, and purposes that drive us to become doctors, and I hope that we never forget that. Congratulations, Doctors!”

The graduates and guests cheered as he took his degree and left the stage. Suddenly, he stopped in his tracks and then continued after being ushered down the row.

Once the graduates dispersed, we met up with our son, who spied around the entire area, freezing on one spot. I watched and knew exactly what happened. “Another bites the dust.”

      “Who is she?”

“I don’t know, but I’m about to find out.” He sauntered in that direction, catching his fellow classmates’ attention. I recognized the guy from one of their vacations. We decided it was best to wait by the truck for him to come, but he didn’t take more than five minutes. “Hey. What happened? I thought you’d have her over your shoulder.”

“She’s Drake’s little sister. As in barely sixteen little sister. Shit. I have two whole years.”

“Good. In the meantime, you have a bunch of lives th
at will need to be saved,” Grace informed him.

“Yes, and then I’ll have money to support us.” I tried not to be offended because the boy had a trust I set up when he was little. He had over two million dollars in it like all his siblings, but then I remembered how much he wanted to be an independent man. “More power to you, son.”

“I’m going to marry Everly one day.” The look of determination on his face told me he most certainly would.

      “He’s so your son.”

“Damn right. Do you think it’s too late to make another?” She laughed. “At least we can still try,” I teased, flipping her over my shoulder and carrying her to her side of the SUV.

“Put me down, you big caveman!”

“I’m just showing our boy how easily it’s done.”

“Noted,” he muttered. “Now can we get some food, because I’m starving.”

“Yep. Just like me.” I beat my chest, then set my woman on her feet before stealing a kiss. I’ll be forever grateful for my second chance.
