    The Painted Room

      Tina Mikals
$value['title']

If 15-year-old May Taylor isn't careful she's going to turn into her mother: a woman with an icicle tongue, migraines and a fondness for gin and tonic. Francis Carlisle is a bumbling Victorian painter trapped for over a century in his own work. Together with May’s best friend, Sheila, they travel in a transcendent world through the paintings on the walls of an art dealer's living room. 15+On the rocky coast of Maine, railroad tycoon and painter, Francis Carlisle, disappears on a stormy night in 1887 shortly after the death of his wife. Two young women discover him over a century later trapped in his own painting. Even after the urging of her friend, hard-hearted May Taylor has no desire to help Carlisle out of his private purgatory. She only wants to get back home, back to the familiar and predictable world where she is overshadowed by her stellar brother, largely ignored by her parents, and where she can fade back into obscurity and return to her previous dull existence. In true Victorian male fashion, Carlisle insists on helping them, however, and May laments that there will be no getting rid of the bumbling man. After the girls discover a doorway into another painting, the three of them begin a journey through the painted world on the walls of an art dealer's living room. There in the artwork, they meet pirates, a deceptive goddess, and ogres from the past. When Carlisle proves that he is more useful than he appears (and perhaps just a little smarter than he looks), May decides she can use him after all, even if that means hiding the fact that he may never make it to a painting of his young and beautiful wife. Or is that really why she is keeping him around? A lighthearted read for a snowy afternoon; it is ultimately about finding home, which is to say--one's true self.

    To the crusher

      Quelli di ZEd
$value['title']

Warning: experimental translation (hybrid)Behind the old crusher, on top of the country hill, it consumes the revenge of a man that, at distance of few days, discovers to have completed a well more serious crime of that that believed to have put into effect.I point out the error of Thomas Hobbes in equating the prince with Leviathan and of parliaments with Behemoth. It is the other way around. Autocratic administration of the state is clearly the logical condition of good governance and true democracy. World history is dominated by the war between prince and shaman. Parliaments, courts, capital cities and stock exchanges are ruses behind which the shaman and his witch consort hide. I explain the true purpose of the state as a commonwealth, that is to say, a generator of wealth. I offer ways to keep the human family unit strong and to eliminate the corruption of nationalism. The nations are of the fruit of the tree of Babel and so evil like the tree that generated them. I suggest that the military should take on the role of hunter/warrior, as was the state of the warrior in the past (energy in place of meat, minerals in place of hides.) This is the best way to stay militarily secure and economically prosperous. I briefly point out that the stubborn refusal to accept the existence of witchcraft in modern life is a grievous error. These misers of the mind encourage ignorance at every turn to exalt their relative position in society.

Hide and Seek - part 5 - Rhyming & Non Rhyming Poems

      Nikhil Parekh
$value['title']

This Book which has 50 differently titled Poems , is actually part 5 of the Book titled – Hide and Seek – Rhyming & Non Rhyming Poems ( 702 pages ) .Parekh's earliest collection of verse. Written in unparallelled fervor, this collection is a delectable blend of topics from love to death, probing into countless infinitesimal aspects of existence which make a significant impact to it. The beauty of this compendium lies in its magical brevity at places and in the most mundane things of life around us brought to the fore like a magicians wand, in brilliant poetic flair by Parekh. Contains poems on topics impossible for one to envisage that a poem could be written about such an inconspicuous little thing-but Parekh evolves bountiful rhyme from the word go and coalesces vivacious color in the little tid-bits of the chapter called life to optimum effect. A must read for all those who find color, charm and significance in even the smallest things of life and are enthused by even the most mercurial bit of stray paper loitering around. A poetic tribute to the ordinary, projecting its colorful extraordinary bit to the planet with raw panache. This book tingles every living being's imagination to fantasize beyond the ordinary. Look at all those meaningful tid-bits around us which have a complete book written in each one of them. All those joyous and unfortunate anecdotes around us which make us blossom into the true spirit of existence; into the amazing celebration of omnipotent life.
