    Between the Rivers

      Natalie Jayne
$value['title']

NEWLY REVISED VERSION 4/2017"Quirky, insightful, witty!"Sometimes life gives you exactly what you do not want, precisely when you need it most. That’s how it was for Gideon. Not that he was guilty, at least not of rustling, but folks were pretty well set on hanging him anyway. Don’t get me wrong, Caswell Crossing is full of good people. Some would even call themselves upstanding citizens.Have you ever tried to change the minds of ‘good folks’ when they're half convinced the swift application of a rope will solve all their problems? Thing is, to Gideon, the prospect of being hung counted as a bothersome inconvenience. Maybe he was just too busy fending off the Rivers's attempts to help him to take notice of such things.Drinking water, deep breaths, standing upside down-- nothing will change the fact that life is full of hiccups. Gideon's life is more full than most. This story is Intelligent & insightful in a way that holds true, not only for its loosely American West setting, but for today's coffee drinking Joe as well. Told with a 'sitting beside you on the couch' feeling, this is a 'clean' read. Though 1st in the RIVERS series, titles can be read independently.

Will this be the end of McArthur clan, or can they find a way to evade the General for good?Set in Uganda circa March 2011; follow the third nail-biting faith adventure of the McArthur family. In writing this book series, I aim to inspire young people to embrace an adventurous faith. Keeping pace with the McArthur family as they travel around the globe, I hope my readers nurture a compassionate, missional connection to the world, and in this case, the amazing people of Japan. I also hope many adults use these books to stoke their own sense of faith adventure, and most importantly, engage with young people in embarking on the Kingdom adventure.(Craig R. Kirkby, from the book’s Preface).

Part 1 of a new serial. Moriarty Jackson is an English teacher in the idyllic Japanese countryside. Idyllic, that is, until he's called upon to solve a heinous crime. Now Jackson will have to turn this sleepy town and upside down if he's going to save the day.The first shot shattered the home's rear window and storm glass, plowed a furrow along the man's scalp and buried itself in the opposite wall. The second, without any obstruction to slow its velocity, tore through the wall and ended up in the bathroom medicine chest, where it nested between a bottle of aspirin and a toothbrush. The tall, thin man crumpled to the floor, unconscious, cold November air pouring over him like a waterfall through the broken window. It was a few minutes into a new day, two days before Thanksgiving.

    The Bad Poet

      Michael Paul Fuller
$value['title']

This book is a thriller, its suspenseful, romantic, mysterious. It touches on many levels of friendship. There is the friendship of a mother and daughter, a man and a woman, women best friends and friendships that are acquired in the chat room. It is a page turner with many unexpected twists. This story paints a unique portrait of multilayered life lessons that unfold carrying a dark side. You never know about people. Human predictability is the singular thing that mathematicians and scientists cannot calculate with 100% accuracy. The human chemistry ebbs and flows from second to second where only one thing is certain, and that is unpredictability. Just as in one’s own decision making, where life’s twist and turns will eventually dictate your final decision, sometimes even when you know it is the wrong choice. The time an individual spends on earth is as small as a tiny pebble tumbling down the Grand Canyon. We should spend it as wisely as possible by measuring each day, hour, minute and second given to us. Life is a fleeting spirit and with each breath worthy of congratulations as it is given only by the grace of God. We must cherish it, and nurture every moment as our transitory time marches to an end. An end that man has been studying, writing songs, creating stories about and trying to beat, since the beginning of his existence. The tragedy of 9-11 changed many things for Americans that will never be the same. In the cloudy days soon thereafter, Carla King’s husband disappeared without a trace and she was left with their daughter to survive. After their divorce, she was living a mundane life one day at a time when one night while out with friends, she runs into Cutino Grigsby, her mister right. From the start, time spent with Cutino was adventurous and lustful, gregarious and fanciful free. They danced the Marengo on the Bay of Biscay and flew with the doves over mountains of joy. Their impromptu travels to faraway places and gifts from Cutino blinded her from any negative judgments about him. His physical appearance was striking and his confidence brought her security and made Carla take a note of admiration. But it is his deceit that teaches her the most, as her renaissance man will bring changes into her life that she never anticipates. She must hang on for the ride towards a crossroad of life which could land her in deep water, or even her demise.

Lexi’s always been wild and free, until she becomes insecure about how the boys at school will perceive the changes in her body.Lexi lives with her cousin Trevor. They’re closer than siblings, more like twins than anything else. It’s the start of Lexi’s freshman year, with four years difference, as a senior Trevor takes Lexi under his wing. Trevor’s a free bird if there ever was free bird. He’s always telling Lexi how they’re too young to settle because ther’re too many wild and pretty things out there. It’s freshman year, and Lexi’s never felt more nauseous. Thanks to the change that took place over the summer, the one with the sprout of legs and boobs, she doesn’t feel comfortable in her skin. Lexi’s always been wild and free, until she becomes insecure about how the boys at school will perceive the changes in her body.Lexi’s first day starts out as a mess and Trevor seems to be going out of his way to embarrass her. Whether he realizes it or not, it’s not cool to put your cousin on blast for wearing Ninja Turtle underwear, especially not in front of his hot friend. Blake’s the prettiest wild thing Lexi’s ever seen. His eyes are the color of the sky caught in a storm, a girl could get lost in eyes like that. Blake coins her with a lousy nickname that makes her feel bad about herself. Lexi accepts that Blake’s out of her league and moves on.It’s hard for Lexi to move on when her best friend and Blake become an item. Now Lexi’s down in the dumps, at her lowest of lows. Everything changes when Trevor throws a party. Lexi meets Evan, he’s sweet with dimples and eyes of velvet, a girl could get lost in eyes like that. The party’s epic, the party’s a mess. It’s a night full of firsts and regrets. Blake gives Lexi her first kiss in a harmless game of spin the bottle. After the kiss Blake starts to show interest in Lexi, but he’s still with her best friend and she’s still with Evan. Always divided in two, like most 15-yearold’s, Lexi finds herself constantly confused about what’s right or wrong. She loves the boy with the eyes of velvet, but she can’t stop thinking about the boy with a storm in his eyes. Lexi finds there’s something to Trevor’s logic when it comes to all the wild and pretty things. Like sometimes, boys are the wildest kind of pretty; the kind that are all wrong for you, but you fall for them anyways. Those boys are nothing but distractions, but sometimes a distraction is what you need.
