Shady Hazy and the Subliminal Criminal

      Shane Griffin
$value['title']

Shady Hazy is a jack of all trades, of sorts. He'd do just about anything for the right amount of cash. He even did the odd hit if times were tough. than one person had snuffed it so Shady could pay the rent on time. He is also able to read people's thoughts, it's how he stays one step ahead of the game. Will his abilites be enough when he has to hunt down a criminal who can control minds?A wonderful opportunity presented itself in early May of 2012. Patti Larsen, a Prince Edward Island author, was going to be presenting at the Montague Regional High School. With Patti already travelling East of Charlottetown, she was more than willing to visit our school to work with some of our budding writers. A group of thirty-nine students from grades seven, eight, and nine were selected by their English teachers based on ability and interest level in writing to attend a writing workshop run by Patti. The writing workshop blossomed into an anthology of student stories. With Patti’s guiding hand, students have compiled an outstanding collection of short stories for your reading pleasure. It is hoped that through an opportunity such as this one students will have gained an insight into the process of writing a book or novel and perhaps consider story writing as a future career.I want to take this opportunity to thank Patti for giving up her time and energy to foster the writing spirit in our student body. She has committed a great deal of her own time and energy working with our students promoting her love for writing. Her passion for writing and the energy she brought to the student workshops is one of the main reasons this project was so successful. I would also like to thank Kevin Stonefield, our principal, and the entire Montague Intermediate staff for allowing our students time to take part in this writing project. The flexibility of our staff and willingness for them to allow students release time from other subject areas is a testament to their desire for student excellence. Finally, I would like to recognize the students for all of their contributions during this process: the initiative displayed creating their stories, their willingness to accept feedback, and ability to work as a team in the publication process. Without their creative ideas this process would not have been possible and I hope they learned as much about the process as I did.Sincerely yours,Mark QuinnTeacher-LibrarianMontague Intermediate School

Many of the peotic lines were inspired by the tough experiences that the author observed as a commonality among the youth studying in both Nigerian secondary schools and universities, especially the public ones.Having had serial non-violent encounters with dishonest student politicians, impossible lecturers, party-inclined club chiefs and unmentioned cultists as an erstwhile Nigerian undergrad, Ayo spared time to study the essence of human behaviour and attempted to literarily interpret his observations. Along with the review of the difficulties encountered by many students of the public educational institutions in Nigeria, Ayo proposed some bits of advice to those preparing for university life and all who consider themselves bona fide undergrads.

This fictional novel is about two young policemen in South Africa who come from different backgrounds but whose paths cross each other as a result of traumatic events in their adolescent years. Barry's life is saved by Adrian in more than one way that, with constant prayer and support brings Barry to surrender his heart to Christ. Action packed police drama and suspense as well as lighter moments. This fictional novel tells the moving tale of two young policemen in the Western Cape who come from two very different backgrounds but whose paths cross each other as a result of traumatic events in their adolescent years. This leads to a very deep friendship that can only be described as the brotherhood relationship between David and Jonathan in the Holy Scripture. Barry, being an atheist, life is saved by Adrian in more than one way that, with constant prayer and support brings Barry to surrender his heart to the Only Saviour, Jesus Christ. This novel, written by a cop, is a true reflection of what the men and women in blue are really exposed to on a daily basis but also that no problem or tribulation is defeat to a child of God in any means and that with God; true peace can be experienced in the worst storms of life. The reader can expect an overdose of real police action as well as suspense and drama, yet there are enough lighter moments as a result of both Adrian and Barry’s razor sharp sense of humour. With three kidnappings and two hostage situations, the audience is sure to be kept captivated to the end!

    Okron

      A. D. Nance
$value['title']

As a member of the Singsord delegation on the massive Galaga Alpha, Eldon gathers reactions to the Okron disaster. He also is given an inside view of other disasters and perhaps their meaning, if any. This the My Stars version of the OKC bombing and of 9/11.A retired MLB pitcher finds love and redemption via a hurled can of humble soup. Refusing to obey signals cost him his career, once--but this time--a beanball is exactly what's called for, and the signs all make sense. Making a hero often requires a "zero" to balance the equation. Seeing life from both sides of the fence, the protagonist reconciles his past, finds humility, and creates a new beginning. This story isn't about about baseball, though it makes significant commentary on contemporary status, thereof, and incisively nails what's wrong with the sport...where greed has driven it awry. This narrative is primarily about what's truly important in life--what's solidly pure and what's vacuously hollow--what's important when looming largely in front of us, but insignificant in the rear-view mirror with distance applied. Dreams and aspirations loudly drive us when young, while wisdom softly chuckles from the quiet perch of maturity. Each has its time and purpose.
